Emergency management is the organization and management of the resources and responsibilities for dealing with all humanitarian aspects of emergencies.Powell County Emergency Management's mission is mitigation,preparedness, response and recovery in order to protect lives, the environment and property of the people of Powell County. Powell County emergency management strives to help the residents of our community before and after a crisis,by constantly educating ourselves and the public to prepare for crises that we shall face.

The Powell County Emergency Management Office is located at 33 Commerce Dr. Stanton, KY. We are affiliated with many programs, including the Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program, Earthquake, Mitigation, Search and Rescue, Responder Training, Local Emergency Planning Committee, Kentucky Department of Homeland Security, and Amber Alert.
Powell County Emergency Management plays an active role with the Public Assistance program that, during times of declared disasters, will coordinate with the Commonwealth of Kentucky and Federal Emergency Management Agency to offer assistance to those who qualify. Our office staff is available or on call 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

The CODE RED Calling System for Powell County is an automated system that calls homes and businesses to notify you about serious emergency situations and severe weather alerts for the citizens, it is direct call from the national weather service when a storm is approaching your physical address, as well as routine community notifications, and has most recently been implemented for our county. In the event of an emergency, public safety personnel will identify the affected area of the county and activate the system. It will automatically call all telephone numbers within a specified area, or the entire county, and deliver a recorded message. Click here to sign up
