Welcome to Powell County, Kentucky! Nestled between the Appalachian Mountains and the Bluegrass, we are located in one of the most scenic areas of Kentucky. Outdoor adventure abounds here with over 80 miles of marked hiking trails and hundreds of unmarked trails. We have been voted one of the best places to hike in Kentucky with trails in the Red River Gorge, the Natural Bridge State Park and the Pilot Knob State Nature Preserve.
